Please note that there will be NO break in junior training sessions for half-term – so there will be sessions on the 22nd and 29th of October and right through until we break for the Christmas holidays.  The last session of term will be on Tuesday 17th December.

Juniors in school years 6 and above will need to bring headtorches with immediate effect – due to the dark evenings.  They should also wear some reflective clothing.  Younger juniors will be training on the floodlit astro pitch – so will not need headtorches.

Well done to the 11 juniors that that took part in these races – a great turnout considering the wet weather.  My report and the results can be found here

This was the last fixture in our Junior Club Championships for 2019.  The final scores in the Championship will now be kept secret until the awards are presented on Tuesday 26th November after training.  Well done to all those that have taken part in any of the Club Championship fixtures this year.

The 2020 Junior Club Championships are likely to start on 5th January with the Scout Scar Kendal Winter League fixture.

The West Yorkshire Cross-Country League starts on 5th October  at Keighley with subsequent fixtures in the Leeds area on 27th Oct, 17th Nov and 8th Dec (details here http://www.westyorkshireathletics.org.uk/XCMain.htm )  The league is open to all those aged 9 or above on 1st Sept 2019 – age groups (boys & girls) are U11, u13, U15, U17, U20.  In the past we have had several juniors competing in this competitive league. Please let Andy know asap if your child is interested in entering as they will need first to be registered with English Athletics (fee £15 for the year) & we will assist you with this process.
Well done to all those that represented their schools at these very-high standard races at Giggleswick on Sunday 6th October.  Thanks also to all those that helped out by marshaling, helping out with catering or in any other capacity.  The weather stayed fine despite the adverse forecast although the courses were slippery and muddy in places.

The results can be found on the event website here

From Tuesday 17th September, we will be offering an alternative training session for juniors in school Year 8 and above on Tuesday evenings.  In addition to the existing session geared predominantly for those preparing for competition, there will be an alternative 2 to 3 mile “social run” for those less competitively inclined or new to the sport etc.  All year 8+ juniors will warm up together at 5.45pm then divide into 2 groups around 6.00pm for their separate activities before coming together again at the end of the session.  The social runs will be accompanied by at least 2 adults (coaches, assistants, parent volunteers).  If you know of any children in this age-group (not already in the club), who might be interested in joining these social runs, please do ask them to contact Andy (a free try-out session can be arranged before they commit to joining the club).
Well done to all those juniors that have been competing in races over the summer holidays – there have been some excellent results.  If you have taken any good photos, please email them to Andy so that he can post them up on this website.

There are 3 races remaining in our Junior Club Championships and details of all 3 are given below.  It would be good to have a large turnout of juniors at these fixtures – it’s always more fun to race when lots of your club mates are there !  Remember that  juniors taking part in 3 or more of our Junior Champs fixtures receive a special award at the end of the season and there are also medals or trophies for the top 6 boys and girls in the championships.
