The Yorkshire Dales Classic Series
Settle Harriers will be hosting the first Yorkshire Dales Classic Series, four races set in the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The series will be run in the usual “grand prix” format, with overall and category prizes. Discounted entry will be available to those entering all
four races, and anyone who completes all four will receive a special series memento. The series will be the four races organised by Settle Harriers, commencing with Pen-y-Ghent in June and Ingleborough Mountain Race completing the series in July.
Rules:
All the races are run under FRA rules, therefore:
All runners must read the principles of fell running and the requirements for runners, including the recent rule changes.
These documents include details of the full FRA mandatory minimum kit that you must bring on the day.
All runners must follow the complete course from start to finish as shown by the map for each race. They must follow any flags, direction markers or marshal instructions. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from the race.
FRA Kit:
Please be prepared and bring full FRA statutory kit – this is likely to be relaxed on the day if weather conditions permit. The routes are fully flagged and well marshalled.
Entry:
Entries will open on the 1st February 2026.

Eligibility:
Anyone entering any of the 4 race, will be entered into the series.
Anyone over the age of 18 years.
Qualifying Races:
The number of qualifying races for the series will be 3. In the event of a race being cancelled, the number of qualifying races will be reduced to 2.
Runners will be awarded points, with their best 3 positions being scored over the 4 races.
Only runners completing 3 races with be eligible for prizes from the series.
Race Scoring:
All runners will be awarded series points for completing a race.
Points are awarded as follows:
- 100 points for first place
- 98 points for second place
- 96 points for third place
- 94 points for fourth place
- the decreasing by one point per place thereafter, for the next 96 finishers.
- runners who finish after position 100 and beyond will receive a point.
Prize-Giving:
Prize giving for the series will follow the prize giving for the Ingleton Mountain Race.
Prizes:
1st Male and 1st Female overall.
1st Category 40 Male and Female.
1st Category 50 Male and Female.
1st Category 60 Male and Female.
1st Category 70 Male and Female.
