Welcome to Settle Harriers Running Club
Settle Harriers is a small club based at the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales in the North Craven area, in the towns of Settle, Ingleton and Hellifield. Founded in 1987, we are a growing club with over 200 active members, including around 90 juniors. Although most of our members are fell runners, we also enter several road, trail and cross country races throughout the year. As a club we organise three fell races (Pen-y-ghent Fell Race, Settle Hills Race and Ingleborough Mountain Race) and are involved with the organisation of several others in the locality.
Lots of the club members have some responsibility for some aspect of the everyday running of the organisation and everyone “mucks in” to ensure that all goes smoothly. We value everyone’s contribution and take pride in the fact that families have found the club’s atmosphere welcoming.
We have regular social runs on Mondays and Wednesdays with speed work coaching on Thursday evenings for the adults. During the winter, the training is either on minor roads or off-road depending on the conditions and the weather. Training is based from different villages in North Craven. In summer the training mainly consist of sessions on the hills and fells, with some orienteering events, again in the North Craven area, starting and finishing at one of the local pubs. See the Settle Harriers training schedule of runs. We welcome new members of any age or ability and the training runs are always adapted to the make-up of the group with gentler, more social sessions for some, with the more experienced doing more and faster, but with all meeting in the pub later. We have a thriving intra-club championship taking in races of different types and distances.
On Tuesdays there is Junior coaching, please see the Juniors Coaching page for further details.
